WHAT OUR CLIENTS THINK
I highly recommend the auction services provided by James Childers at Childers & Green Auctions. As part of a group of heirs that inherited a piece of land in Pike County, we decided to sell the property with the help of Childers & Green. Mr. Childers was professional and capable every step of the way in dealing with a transaction involving multiple owners in multiple states. He handled all the details from radio advertising to signage to making sure all necessary documents were in hand. With his help, the transaction went smoothly.

I was having no luck selling my mother's house after she passed, in part because the house was far off the beaten path and needed some work. After months of no interest and no offers, I saw a flyer for a Childers and Green auction and gave them a call. They advertised the auction of my mother's property and contents and on auction day drew more potential buyers than I had seen in 4 months on Realtor.com. The house sold to a cash buyer with a minimum of fuss - I didn't have to fix everything, and I didn't have to stage anything. The contents were sold and removed that day, and payment was quick, so I could pack up and move on. The folks at Childers and Green were very understanding, professional, efficient and effective.

"Friends, I had the good fortune to work with Jim and Johnny and their crew on this estate auction. I found them to be very easy to work with. It's obvious they are very experienced and professional. An estate auction is stressful just because of someone's passing. These guys were respectful of that and everything went without a hitch. I would recommend them to anyone who has a need for their services. I don't think I could have found anyone that would have done it any better! Thanks again fellas!"

When we first began the process to move our aging parents in with my family out of our home town, we knew we would have to sell their home of 50 plus years. We spent many weekends cleaning and moving essentials out of the home. Once we got everything out that they needed, we were then left with a great many things still in the house. We contacted a couple of realtors who wanted to sell the house, but wanted us to remove everything from the home and stage the house ourselves. We just knew this was not possible as we live hours away and quite honestly have full households ourselves! We called Childers and Green to inquire about an auction of contents. James came to our property, met with us and told us not to remove anything else. He said he could sell it all!! He and his team would take care of everything. And THEY DID!! Not only did they sell the home for much more than any realtor suggested, they sold all of the contents as well. Our family cannot say enough good things about Childers and Green. They work hard, do what they say they are going to do, and are extremely honest in their business dealings. It was an absolute pleasure to work with them. They made a sad, difficult event very easy.

Col. Ivan Childers
In the 1940's, Col. Ivan Childers, the late grandfather of James Orbin Childers, or as most folks know him Jimmy, established Hindman Land Auction Company. Ivan sold everything from livestock to antiques, household appliances to mining machinery, all types of residential and commercial property. Jimmy has many fond memories of traveling with his "Papaw Childers" to auctions as a young boy. Jimmy's uncle, Phillip Childers, got his auctioneer license in 1970, became a real estate broker, and helped his dad run the business. In 1983, Jimmy got his real estate license and worked as a sales associate with the family. Johnie Green, son of Oscar and Mae Green of Salyersville, family friends of the Childers family, was employed in 1989 to help with auctioneering. After Ivan's death in 1990, Phillip continued to successfully lead Hindman Land Auction Company until his untimely death in 2010. Shortly thereafter, Childers & Green Real Estate and Auction Company LLC was formed. James Brock Childers, great grandson of Col. Ivan Childers, is a principal auctioneer and sales associate, keeping pace with the family tradition.
